This is my first time in LA and was my first time at the Blogging While Brown Conference/Black Weblog Awards (recap coming soon). As I am sitting here in this uber-crowded LAX airport, I must say I am somewhat impressed with its tech/mobile friendliness.

Essence Music Festival Tech – The Recap
I am STILL debriefing myself from the 2011 Essence Music Festival. Before I begin, I just wanted to take the time to send a shout-out to the group who invite me, and organized my trip.
Now the brown-nosing is over, just wanted to take the time out to do a quick recap of all that I experienced during the festival…from a tech perspective of course!
Essence Music Festival Smoothie Production
While I have some downtime, I figured I would throw up some footage of McDonald’s workers preparing free smoothies for all the 2011 Essence Music Festival attendees at the McDonald’s booth. By now, everybody has heard of those new McDonalds McCafe Smoothies. If not, you need to get up on those. My favorite is the Wild Berry Real Fruit Smoothie
McDonald’s is one of the major sponsors of the festival and they were kind enough to let us go behind-the-scenes to see how the smoothies are made. So I took some quick shots…and managed to get a nice new Mango Pineapple smoothie
footage was taken on my iPhone and edited on my iPad 2 using the iMovie mobile app…Just to make sure I throw some mobile tech up in there.
Essence Music Festival Tech – Why I’m Here
Just taking some time this morning to do a quick blog from the lobby of my hotel (Since they have such a nice computer setup). If you’ve been following @BrothaTech for the past day, I will be tweeting from the 2011 Essence Music Festival (hashtags: #EMF2011 #EMFJunket11). I will also be taking pictures and posting video during the event as well.
Essence Music Festival Tech – Mobile Site, Cell Phone Donations and More
Alright, I can’t hold my excitement in any longer, A Brotha has been invited to cover the 2011 Essence Music Festival (July 1st-3rd). Now I know what you’re thinking: “What’s a tech-geek doing covering the Essence Music Festival?” That’s the WHOLE point actually – To raise more awareness about technology at major African-American events like Essence…and they couldn’t have picked a better Techie for the job.
