Since I’m not going to be there this year, I might as well do you a favor and throw out some apps to help you learn, network, and party while you’re down in Austin this year.

OutBurst: Tablets Replacing PCs…Nope!
I’ve tried to stay away from joining in on all the tablet madness as of late. From the hoopla over the pending iPad 3 announcement, to Microsoft releasing a Windows 8 Version specifically for tablets later this year; It seems as if people really…really want tablets to replace your run-of-the-mill personal computer (both desktops AND laptops).
…That’s not happening, and i’ll tell show you why
That’s right. The good ole’ keyboard and mouse. Touch technology is light years away from where it needs to be. Hell, stylus feedback on a touchscreen is a couple years off. Let’s face it, as convenient and cool as tablets are, when you really…really need to get some work done, you will plug your tablet up to recharge, and whip out your keyboard and mouse to get real productive.
So while the iPad 3 announcement will most definitely make some waves, just keep it in the back of your mind that you will still need to save some dough to invest in a computer when you’re current computer is on its last leg.
…As you were.
Activity Log for BlackBerry Charts Your Life Via Customizable Activities
You hear people often say “there aren’t enough hours in the day”. Yet, if we really really took a look at the activities we spend our time on, you may just find that a great deal of your time spent could be used in a better way. The Activity Log app for BlackBerry smartphones and PlayBook tablet gives you the ability to craft your daily activities out of icons that you click to log your ever move.
That is…If you can remember to log in and out of the things you do daily. If you can, the app will chart your every move during the day so you can see exactly how your time is spent by generating both a graph and spreadsheet automatically.

‘Exec’ Service Aims to Assist Busy Professionals
As Small business owners, we wear many hats in our personal and professional lives. So much so that there are some things that just don’t get done on our “to-do” lists. Doesn’t mean those task aren’t important, or that they will magically get done if we keep pushing them to the bottom of the list either. Exec is a new service that provides professional assistants to do a multitude of tasks for a flat-fee of $25/hour.
While that may seem like a lot of dough to a small business owner who are strapped for cash operates on the “lean” philosophy, Exec wants you to trust that a professional (who has been interviewed and back-ground checked, versus somebody just trolling a virtual job board) will handle your requests.
To bad Exec is only currently available in San Francisco…To read more about it anyway, read the rest over on Small Biz Go Mobile
[Review] LunaTik LYNK Nano Watch Band
I’ve been dying to get my hands on the latest iPod Nano. Luckily, an old Nano that my wife was using qualified for the iPod Replacement Program initiated by Apple late last year. So I gave her the Nano I was using (she gets all the tech hand-me-downs), sent hers to Apple, and they sent me a current generation (refurbished) Nano.
One of the FIRST things I did was went to an Apple Store in search of those LunaTik Nano watch bands that started out as a Kickstarter project and turned into a compay. Unfortunately, the Apple store didn’t have them in stock, so I reluctantly bought another brand that was in stock. The band I bought is “cool” but I REALLY wanted a LunaTik. So I reached out to the company and they gladly sent me one of their newer model LYNK bands.
