Why I Want BlackBerry to Win

RIM has had some tough times over the past couple of years. It doesn’t help that the canadian company doesn’t even have the number one smartphone in its own country. That’s right, more iPhones were sold in Canada than BlackBerries last year. That new fact alone could mark the end of BlackBerry as we know it if RIM can’t come correct with BlackBerry OS 10/QNX and a slew of sexy phones later this year.
This next statement may sound strange coming from an Apple fan, but I actually want RIM/BlackBerry to succeed (the nerve of me to be non-biased). I don’t think they will ever be able to compete on the same level as mobile devices from Apple, Google, or even Windows Phone, but I do think if RIM positions itself as the entry-level mobile productivity tool for consumers/small business owners who don’t want/need a “fancy” smartphone, they can carve themselves a new niche that I think a large number of people fit into, but are ashamed to admit.

Network Marketing with a Tech-Twist
Multi-level/Network Marketing Programs: Some people swear by them while others think they are the new pyramid scheme. I have no personal experience to fully support or condem them. What I can say is that I can appreciate any company that has a technology product/service that can actually benefit its customers. 5Linx is one of those network marketing programs that at the very least, provides a valuable product (affordable home/business telecommunications/VOIP services) that everyday people can benefit from.
Another reason I can appreciate 5Linx is because they make sure to stay up on the latest and greatest technology has to offer instead of just offering up any old product in hopes that prospective entrepreneurs looking to take advantage of the program will focus solely on their “salesforce”, versus caring if the product actually works. Case and point, the Velocity 8″ Android Tablet packed with OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) – A feat that many major tablet manufacturers haven’t managed to do yet.
