Scan the code!

On the way home this afternoon, I passed by some advertising in one of the D.C Metro Rail stations. The reason why this ad caught my eye was because of the fact that it had some QR code on the lower right-hand corner.

So being the techie that I am, I snapped some photos, scanned the code with my ScanLife Barcode Reader for BlackBerry, and decided to throw up a quick post of my findings, since WordPress for my iPad got an update earlier this morning.

The ad was for MasterCard MarketPlace, and scanning the code took me to a mobile site where it was offering limited-time gift card discounts and to further push MasterCard Marketplace.

I am a fan of QR Code and it’s nice to see that the companies in the U.S. are starting to use QR code to cater to folks carrying smartphones everywhere they go…At the very least, its a cool gimmick to get folks to “inquire within”

…I mean, the gimmick worked on me (since I am writing this post).
