Have I ever told you all how much I dig Evernote? I use it everyday and constantly find new ways to implement the “remember everything” service into my everyday life.
One of the things I do heavily is forward emails to Evernote from Gmail. Things like receipts that come to my inbox, I quickly forward them to Evernote by using the designated email address assigned to me when I signed up what seems like ages ago. What I then have to do is open Evernote, find the note that’s stored in my default notebook, and manually move it to the appropriate notebook and add tags to the note to quickly find it later – That was until I found out that you can send notes from email to their right folders with tags using Twitter-like characters in the subject line.
Two of the things you quickly learn once you hit the Twittersphere is how to “mention” people in tweets, and how to add hashtags to tweets so your message can be found when anybody searches that hashtag. Sending emails to Evernote works the same way
@Mention notes
First things first, make sure you add your Evernote email address to your contact list. Compose an email like you normally would and address it to the Evernote contact (don’t get cute, just call the contact “Evernote”). In the subject line, mention the notebook that will receive the note by adding the @ symbol to the Notebook’s name.
Add #HashTAGS
Using keywords as tags in Evernote is a quick way to search for notes if you have a TON of them (like I do). Similar to how Twitter uses Hashtags, you can use the Number Symbol “#” to add tags to your notes in the subject line.
Note: In order for this to work, the notebooks and tags have to exist in your Evernote account. This trick will not create a notebook or tag where none exist. If everything checks out, your email (with attachements) will be turned into a note assigned to the correct notebook with tags *Crosses fingers*
As you can tell, I am a beast with Evernote moving closer to being a Power Evernote user. I send stuff to Evernote from just about everywhere. Now I know that when I send things to Evernote from email, I won’t have to go back to Evernote to file the note off in it’s appropriate location.

I am a developing Evernote Beast myself. Nice article.
Thanks man. I need to look up that Evernote Ambassador program and find my niche so I contribute.
Bro,
That is an awesome tip! This will really help to keep me organized. I too used to send the emails to the general email address for Evernote, and then move it to the right sections.
thanks!
No problem homie!
I have to really remember to do this. I send a few emails a week to my evernote. The only thing that saves me is that last-added are organized to show first. I try to organize the files about once a week, but I have a lot of backlog.
Just in time, I just was saying there must be away to do this and would google to find out. But just checking Black Web2.0 today I found my answer here. Thanks for writing this up.
No problem. Now y’all are gonna make me add more tips & tricks to my site.
