My iPad Keeps Me Clean

iPad OCD is kicking in!

So far so good with my iPad 3G. I’ll make sure to get you all a better write up later (especially when I fire up the 3G service).

But for now I can tell you that this baby collects some MAJOR smudges. So I spent most of my time on the iPad (including writing this entry) with pre-washed & sanitized hands.

So that means my hands and thusly my body is more germ-free as a result of buying an iPad.

That’s a plus right?

The Lowdown In Tech This Week: 4-30-10

I am gonna try and implement a new segment where I give you the rundown Lowdown of tech news that happened of the past week.

“Heeerrrre we go”

No iphone for you!Mosley vs. Mayweather Apple vs. Adobe

Earlier this week, Steve Jobs himself posted a letter on Apple’s website explaining why Apple will NOT allow Adobe Flash on it’s mobile devices. Some his reasons were that “Adobe was made for PC’s using mice, not touchscreens using fingers” and that Adobe is going the proprietary route by encouraging Flash on mobile devices because website developers MUST use Flash plugins for media content, when devs could use the open source HTML5 (which is what Apple is gunning for) that allows greater customizing.

Of course, Adobe wasn’t just gonna take the tounge lashing that Jobs layed out. Adobe’s CEO responds to the Letter from Jobs and says that Apple’s tight developer restrictions will force developers [like Adode] to support iPhone’s major competitors, specifically Android. Furthermore he explains that it’s Apple’s proprietary nature regarding it’s products is why Flash has had issues in the past integrating with Apple. Since both these kats are giants in the game, this battle should get interesting.

Your kidding right?
David vs. Goliath Gizmodo vs. Apple
image via: Yeah Oops

The blog world is ablaze with the leak of Apple’s new alleged iPhone 4 prototype that was “left” in a bar in California. After “attempts” to notify the “owner”, the person who “found” the phone sold it to the gadget site Gizmodo for $5000 bucks, and Gizmodo promptly threw up tons of images and a breakdown of the hardware features of the phone.

Well Apple didn’t take that lightly, and a warrant was issued to the editor who published the article, and all his personal gadgets were confiscated. Gizmodo claims that the warrant was illegal, due to bloggers being protected as reporters who can’t reveal sources, and because the search was done at night which they claim is also illegal (notice how Gizmodo did NOT mention that they were fighting Apple’s claim that they were in possesion of stolen property). Apple isn’t done either, as they are considering further legal action, but nothing has been filed yet. I hope that story was worth all the trouble…

Best Android phone yet?The “Incredible” new Android Device
image via: Unwired View

It probably was a good move by Google to “urge” potential Nexus One smartphone buyers to get in line and buy the Droid Incredible instead. As a result, Verizon’s online orders were sold out in within TWO HOURS of it’s release yesterday (Don’t worry, they will be re-stocking their virtual shelves early next week and you can still get it in stores). As it should have. The N1 has some “bugs”, so Verizon opted to carry the Incredible that touts the popular Android OS 2.1 system, 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, 8Ghz internal memory 8MP camera, and other sexy goodies like an 3.7 OLED touch screen with full virtual QWERTY keyboard. If Android keeps on pushing out devices like this, they very well could topple the Apple OS giant. Apple May have something to say about that with the announcement of their new OS 4.0 system coming in their new iPhone due out sometime in June.

Yeah, that was FAILMicrosoft and HP Tablet FAIL
image via: To Miss, with Love

Word on the street is BOTH Microsoft AND HP decided to nix their “iPad Killing” tablet devices this week. Folks are speculating that HP has decided to go with an Android OR WebOS platform instead of the Windows 7 OS that was planned for their HP Slate device (HP JUST bought Palm for a WAD of cash, and now own’s Palm’s patents…and their WebOS, that was used and praised in the Palm Pre and Pixi smartphones). Now that makes sense, unlike the reasoning behind Microsoft killing their Courier Tablet concept. Most folks were very interested in seeing it come to the market, and thus the buzz and interest was definately there, but out of the blue, Microsoft just said “Psych” (I love that show) and killed the project. I will be sure to let all three of you know when Microsoft gives a firm reason(s).

So there you have it, my first weekly tech update. Drop me a line and tell me how I did. I may not immediately respond, due to the fact that I will be “distracted” for a while.

NEW BlackBerry 6 OS Video Revealed at WES

Just from the video, the new BlackBerry OS 6 looks more fluid and better intergrated with other BlackBerry apps. The web browser is definately in improvement.

BlackBerry is definately the go-to smarphone for most consumers (all of my family owns one). I just wonder if it can keep up with likes of Apple and Android in terms of leading edge smartphone technology. Right now, they are playing “catch up”

We will have to wait and see
