As you all know, I am a gadget man. I own a nice inventory or gadgets. Even though I could always use more gadgets, right now I think I am covered.
But every once in a while, there is something out there that I want to get my hands on just to touch, mess with, and figure out either to review on my blog, or just to see if it’s something I could see buying and using.
With the SnapGoods site, I can check in my area to see if people are willing to rent out their gadgets (and other stuff too) and do just that – Rent gadgets.
If your camera is getting old and you need something better, but just for a wedding, graduation, birthday party, but don’t have $200+ bucks to run out and buy a high-end camera, you can check snapgoods to see if somebody willing to let you “use” theirs for an daily/weekly rate.
The process is simple, pick the product you want to rent based on the zip code you want to search, and you will see the terms for renting the item:
- Condition of the item
- Fees to rent the item
- Item availability
- Deposit needed
- Pick-up location
- Option to ask a question about the item
- Reviews from others who have rented the item in the past
If you agree to the terms, you simply “request reservation” and arrange payment and pickup with the renter.
Based on my searches, most of the stuff I would rent can be had for around $10-$20 bucks a day. But like I said, the site isn’t just limited to renting electronic gadgets. There are pickup trucks, apartments, and for you road warriors, there was even a group in my area offering a free office for a day.
The site seems like it is doing good because there are even snapgoods meetup groups of people with the same interests hooking up and sharing their interests (and their stuff) with each other.
So if you are in the market for a specific gadget or any other item and you want to try before you buy, or ran into a situation and you need a specific item to finish a task, check to see if your neighbors are willing to rent it to you via SnapGoods.
