It seems as if the hot news for the week will be the unveiling of the iPhone 4S, so I decided to talk about the new device, but from a different point of view – What are you going to do with your old phone? Most likely, you will throw it in a corner and let it collect dust. If you do try to sell it, you will get low-balled selling it to a pawn shop or online trade-in site like Gazelle (I checked its prices…such a disgrace). eBay can be confusing and Craigslist can be scary.
I stumbled upon tinypay.me – A quick and easy site to sell items locally or globally. All you need is a PayPal account and a good description and you’re up and selling your old stuff in no time. You can set quantities, shipping costs, and get paid via PayPal instantly. If you do decide to sell items other than your late-model iPhone, you can also sell digital items immediately available for download once your item is purchased (1GB max download).
You don’t have to solely depend on tinypay.me to advertise your item either. The service offers the ability to share your listing across Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, create a QR Code for mobile marketing, or use the embed code to put the listing on your own website.
I know you’re asking “What’s the catch?” I scoured the website and for now, it lists that there are “No monthly fees. No listing fees. No sales fees.” To take it a step further, I plan on buying the iPhone 4S, so I decided to put my own Excellent Condition 16GB Black iPhone 4 (Verizon) for sale to try out the site (Shameless plug).
So if you just pre-ordered the iPhone 4S, and need a quick and easy way to offload your old phone before the value drastically drops, check out tinypay.me and let me know what you think in the comments section.
