[Video] VZW Finally Unleashes the Droid Bionic – Available Sept. 8th

After spending some quality time scouring the web looking at all the blurry cam images and hands-on videos, consumers will finally be able to get their hands on the much-awaited Motorola Droid Bionic exclusively on the Verizon Wireless network.

It’s a monster of a smartphone complete with 4G LTE speeds (up to 12mbps download 5mbps upload) and a dual-core 1GHz processor. Add that with a 4.3″ qHD Gorilla Glass display, 1GB Ram, 16GB on-board memory, and a 16GB SD card included in the box (SD slot can handle up to a 32GB card) and you’ve got one of the best devices currently on the market.

Still not convinced? The Bionic ships with Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) OS and has a 8 megapixel rear-facing camera (that can shoot 1080p HD video), along with a front-facing camera for video chat/conferencing. For what it’s worth, the Bionic also can support Flash – I’ll let you decide if that’s a value-add.

Other specs include HTML 5 ready, Hotspot capability, HDMI out jack, MOTOPRINT app that can connect to WiFi printers, and supports wireless charging.

Your main man got a hold of one of these bad-boys and I must say the Bionic is the most responsive smartphones I’ve used. There is NO LAG in screen/app switching and multi-tasking is Bawse. It can browse the web, download a podcast and listen to music with ease. If you were wondering why Verizon passed on scooping up one of those new Samsung Galaxy SII devices…that’s because the Moto Droid Bionic, pound-for-pound, is a serious contender to the Galaxy S lineup and any other future Android, iPhone, or WP7 device coming out this fall.

I shot a quick video to wet your appetite for just a little while longer before it’s available in Verizon Wireless stores (and online) tomorrow, Sept. 8th on contract for $299.

“Now keep in mind that I’m an artist, and I’m sensitive about my ish!”

  1. Excellent review. If I hadn’t returned to the iPhone a few months ago, I would definitely have this phone tomorrow. It’s a serious device worthy of a some serious consideration.

    • After thinking about it, The Droid Prime may make it’s way to VZW. if so, with that phone, you can be sure you will get the latest Android OS avail.

Long and short of it. With the Bionic, The Prime, the new Mango WP7 devices…and the Mack Daddy iPhone 5, it should be an interesting holiday season if you’re a VZW customer.

    • It’s better than the Droid Charge, but if you’re a Power User (I will just assume you are one, lol) 4G still Pwns the battery. It is easier to switch to back and forth to 3G, but even still, if you’re near an outlet, that jawn better be plugged in.

  2. A little birdie told me that as a Verizon Midwest Mom, in addition to our XOOM, we will be getting the Bionic. Still waiting on the official word, but your review has me drooling. This really looks like a sweet device! :)
