You didn’t think Apple was going to let the Pebble Time announcement success last for too long did you?
Apple has finally send out invitations to a special ‘Spring forward’ event slated for March 9th, 2015. If you’re thinking that Apple plans to announce the final Apple Watch design and give us a release date, you’re probably right. The timing makes sense. Back in September during the iPhone 6 Announcement, Apple CEO Tim Cook gave us the first look at the Apple Watch. During that event he mentioned that it would be ready sometime in the 1st quarter in 2015. Rumor after rumor…after rumor pointed to an April release.
What we do know about the Apple Watch is that it will have a base price of $349, come in two sizes, three editions and have numerous color and band customization options. What I really wanna know What we don’t know for sure is how long the battery life lasts. Current smartwatches from LG, Samsung and Mortorla and others will give you a solid day or so on the low end. On the high end, Pebble will give you approximately 7 days of typical use before you have to think about putting it on a charge. Word on the street is that Apple Watch may go about as long as a day, putting it in contention with the other “charge everyday” smartwatches.
Looks like we will have to wait until March 9th to get the final word on the battery and the all-new mobile interface from Apple.
Here’s how you can live stream the event:
- Any Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later device (via Safari browser running 5.1.10 or later)
- Any iOS 6.0 or later device (via Safari browser)
- Any 2nd or 3rd generation Apple TV with 6.2 or later software
What are looking forward to the most from this Apple Watch announcement?
