After 4 months of the iPad 2 hitting the shelves, Skype, the most popular video calling service, has finally landed on the device…

Skype...Where it was meant to be

An AppScout Report

It took a while for the good folks over at Skype to figure out that the WHOLE point of Apple adding front and rear cameras on the iPad 2 was because the masses begged them to add it specifically for video conferencing/chat. Apple obliged and added just enough camera power to handle the task, but; Skype, the most popular video calling service was missing. Now after 4 months of the iPad 2 hitting the shelves, Skype has finally landed on the device.

Similar to the effort Apple put into adding cameras to the iPad 2 (very little), Skype for iPad does just enough to get you up and running with its app. I say that because the app is VERY simple to use, with not a whole heap of features – Just enough to view and edit your profile, set your status, make video calls or chat via IM with your current contacts and use the built-in dialer to call actual phone numbers (Skype credit extra).
